TV Gallery Wall; How to Decorate Around a TV

I love putting together Gallery Walls, they can add so much interest to a room. You can incorporate so many things; from art to photos to decorative objects. I especially love when the wall’s aren’t perfect. Placing frames shifted from one another add that extra element for your eye’s to wander. Plus it’s so much easier to hang!

When it comes to TV Gallery Wall’s it can be tricky. I’ve recently gotten around to decorating the TV wall in my family room with help from Cost Plus World Market. It’s been empty for some time since I wasn’t sure where to start. But once visiting Cost Plus World Market and seeing their amazing selection of frames and wall art decor I was inspired and ready to tackle the project.

If your like me then you might spend hours planning and rearranging your gallery wall over and over again. I’ve come to realize some things to help make the wall come together faster. Below are some tips; you can also find more inspiration on this Gallery Wall Guide.

Tip 1: Don’t be afraid to layer. I love layering frames on top of decor. I used the Nathan Carved Wood Wall Panels as a layering piece with the Antique Zinc Metal Clad Wall Frame over it. The wood wall panels tie back to my baskets in my TV unit and they add depth to the wall.

Tip 2: Decide before you start if you want art, pictures, or a mix of both. Deciding early on takes the guess work out. For my TV Gallery wall I decided to go with just art prints. I also made it easier by keeping the prints all black and white. I think more subdued art and color palette looks best when decorating around a TV. Below I used the Ivory Venetian Tile Plaque mixed in with my frames.

Tip 3: Forget about the pictures or art! Wait till after your frame arrangement is planned out then add your art. I typically print or have my art printed after the layout is done. Then I’ll print the art/pictures to the size of the frames. It sounds like your working backwards but I’ve found I don’t worry about the picture’s as much. I worry about how the frames and decor sit next to each other.

Tip 4: Tie it all together. I seem to always create gallery walls above a piece of furniture. Since this particular gallery wall is above my TV unit I updated my decor. I added small vignettes on each side my TV with interesting trays, candles, and flowers to match back to my gallery wall. You also want to make sure you don’t block the TV.

So don’t be afraid to start decorating your TV wall!

It’s okay if it takes you hours or even days! Just as long as the outcome makes you happy.

Here are some more pictures from my beautiful new TV Gallery Wall. I absolutely love all my new frames and wall decor from Cost Plus World Market.

That is a pretty clever and arty way to do it. My TV comes out of built in shelves so the shelves all have decor.

HI. Your gallery wall turned out lovely. Can I ask where you got your media unit? I’ve been looking for one that is taller, long, and has a mix of shelves and cabinets but am having the darndest time finding one…and then I saw your photo on Pinterest. Could you point me in the right direction?

    Thanks!
