Expecting Moms, Must-haves for Your Hospital Bag

If you’re an expecting mom then you know all the stresses that come with it. You have so much to prepare for and it all can get hectic towards the end of your pregnancy. One thing that doesn’t have to be stressful is preparing your hospital bag.

As a third time mom I know how stressful getting a bag ready to go is. It also doesn’t help that I have 2 other bags to pack with my 2 daughters; not to mention I have to get a bag packed for my pups! So, I wanted to give my suggestions on what to pack for your hospital bag.

Must-haves for Your Hospital Bag!

1. Baby Outfit

You’ll want to pack clothing for the baby’s take home outfit. I also like to pack a blanket, depending on the time of year. I’m all about function, so I pack an easy comfortable outfit like pajamas.

2. Loose Fitting Clothes

You’ll want to pack comfortable clothes, like pajama bottoms and loose tops for yourself. I also always make sure to pack socks, I always freeze in the hospital!

3. Toiletries

I like to pack just the basics, but if you can’t live without makeup then make sure you have that ready to be packed. I already have a travel toiletry bag so everything is ready, but any makeup I bring I end up taking it out and putting it back every day since I don’t want to spend extra money on a second set.

4. Ipad, Magazine, or Book

I was induced with all 3 of my babies so my husband and I had a lot of downtime. Not to mention after the baby arrives you might find yourself not being able to sleep, so having an Ipad, magazine, or book may be what you need.

5. Snacks

You won’t be able to eat them before the baby, but your husband will appreciate them. With my first daughter we didn’t bring anything, and after hours of waiting my husband was starving. The nurses told him he would be okay to run to the cafeteria (which was like a mile away!) but 10 minutes after he left my daughter decided it was FINALLY time to make her arrival. Needless to say he barely made it back in time. So, now we know and we always pack snacks just in case.

6. Cord Blood Registry’s (CBR) Collection Kit

If you plan on saving your newborn’s stem cells as part of umbilical cord blood banking with CBR, then you’ll want to make sure you have your collection kit ready to go. I didn’t do it with my first 2 daughters, but with my 3rd baby I’m hoping to do it. My reason for not considering it before was simply my lack of knowledge on the matter. But since then I have started looking into newborn stem cell preservation and it has so many great things to offer.

If you’re not familiar with CBR and want more info visit

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> HERE <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<

Otherwise, here’s a little more info about newborn stem cells and CBR:

  • Preserving your newborn’s stem cells may give your child or an immediate family member, depending on the condition and other factors, the opportunity to use this resource for current cord blood therapies. In the future, there may be other potential applications like regenerative medicine.
  • CBR believes passionately in the power of healthy families. They have many options to make it affordable for families, including payment plans or a gift registry option where friends and family can contribute toward the cost of preserving newborn stem cells. They also have the Newborn Possibilities Program® which assists families with a qualifying medical need by covering all costs for preserving their child’s newborn stem cells and storing them for 5 years.

If you’re interested in getting setup with CBR it’s an easy process. Plus, you can receive a discount code for $200 off of the initial fees when you fill out your information.

5 simple steps to get setup with CBR:

  1. Enroll with CBR online at cordblood.com/enroll or call 1-888-240-1996
  2. CBR ships you a collection kit.
  3. Bring your kit to the hospital on your big day.
  4. Call the medical courier after your baby is born and the cord blood and/or cord tissue has been collected by your healthcare professional.
  5. Relax. CBR handles the rest and will notify you when they have received your collection kit.

I hope my list helps when it comes time to packing your hospital bag, and make sure to visit CBR’s website or watch this informative video to get more information on how cord blood banking works.

Enjoy!
