DIY Clock + Create & Share Challenge with Walnut Hollow®

This post has been done in collaboration with Walnut Hollow®. All opinions and comments are 100% mine, I only promote products I believe in.

It’s time for another Create & Share Challenge! Again I’ve teamed up with some amazing bloggers and Walnut Hollow® to turn a Basswood into a wood burned clock. For this challenge, each blogger had a choice between 3 items. I went with the Medium Basswood Country Rounds®. I also decided to turn it into a clock.

To make your own DIY- Wood burned Basswood clock you’ll need the following:

  • Medium Basswood Country Round®
  • Wood Burner
  • Clock Kit
  • Art of your choice
  • Tape
  • Pencil
  • Wood Stain
  • Drill
  • Scrap Wood
  • Glue

First step is to print and cut out your art. Then place it where you think you’ll want it.

Next take each piece of paper and shade the back with a pencil. You’ll want to really make sure its covered. Next, place it back where you want it and then start tracing over the art.

Above it what your wood should look like once you transfer the art. The next step is to start burning the art with the wood burner. Make sure you give yourself time because this step can take some time.

Here’s the basswood completely burned. It took me about 1 1/2 hours to complete, but this was also my first experience wood burning.

I then added some wood stain over the entire thing.

After I let it dry I started assembling the clock portion. I used my drill to make a hole for the clock parts.

Since the Basswood isn’t setup to easily make a clock I had to add a scrap piece of wood to make the back lay flat when placed against the wall. I just glued it into place and added a wall hook.

Add the remaining clock parts per the directions and your done!

Here’s the finished product, I’m using it in my daughters room.

Make sure to stop by everyone else’s blog to check out their Walnut Hollow® project.
