Have a little one with curly or wavy hair? Do you struggle to take care of it? Well you’re not alone! Having wavy/curly hair myself I know the struggles of maintaining it. Through trial and error, I’ve learned several tips over the years that work best for me. But, once I started having kids, who all happen to have wavy/curly hair, I was back at square one.
That was until I finally found the right product that worked for them. It’s JOHNSON’S® Curl Defining Kids’ Hair products.

Both of my daughters have really curly hair. I see just how curly it gets when we’re in humid areas, like Florida. But, their hair typically falls flat and seems like it is slowly losing its curl, which I know it’s not. I’ve tried what works on me, but I personally don’t like to use styling products in my kids’ hair. I find that after a day their hair becomes incredibly difficult to manage. So when looking for a product I wanted to focus on a shampoo & conditioner that would get the job done. When I found the JOHNSON’S Curl Defining Kids’ Hair Gift Pack at Walmart, I had to give it a try and I’m so glad I did! The gift packs are available at Walmart while supplies last.
JOHNSON’S Curl-Defining Kids’ Hair Gift Pack comes with: 1 Curl-Defining Kids’ Shampoo with Shea Butter, 1 Curl Defining Kids’ Leave-In Conditioner, and a bonus ball-tipped bristle brush. The Curl Defining Shampoo is hypoallergenic and enriched with Shea butter. It helps smooth frizzy hair, is sulfate & paraben-free, and their No More Tears formula is extra gentle. The Curl Defining Leave-In Conditioner will moisturize & define your toddler’s waves & curls for 24 hours. Learn more about JOHNSON’S® Kids Hair Care here!
Tips & Tricks:
How to Care for Wavy Curly Hair
Want to know my tips & tricks to better Care for your Daughter’s Wavy Curly Hair? Here they are:
- Never brush DRY curly hair. I’m always so tempted to do this, especially after my daughter throws a blanket over her head and is left with a rat’s nest of hair. But you have to resist!
- Instead, comb curly hair in the shower when wet.
- Use JOHNSON’S Curl-Defining Kids’ Shampoo with Shea Butter. It’s specially formulated to be gentler on toddlers’ & kids’ developing hair than adult hair products.
- Use JOHNSON’S Curl-Defining Kids’ Leave-In Conditioner. I work from the bottom up, making sure the tips of the hair are well moisturized.
- Never use a regular towel to dry curly hair as it causes frizz.
- I prefer to let their hair air dry, but if you need to dry it quickly (like before bed) then use a hair dryer diffuser on medium/low heat.
I try to teach my daughters all these tips, but most importantly I’m trying to teach them to love their curls. Just after a couple washes I have noticed a huge difference. Both my girls curls are coming back to life, especially towards the roots. See below for before & afters!
