It’s been 6 years that my husband and I bought our current home. We have made some major renovations along the way, from repainting the entire interior, all new flooring, a kitchen renovation, and so much more. But, my latest project is by far my favorite. I’ve started cleaning, and most importantly purging my garage!
You may think, that doesn’t sound fun or exciting compared to my other projects, but from the moment we bought our house we inherited a large wooden shelf that took over half the garage. I honestly dread looking at it and wish every day it would be gone.
For starters, it took up so much space. Second, we found it incredibly hard to try to utilize it since it was so big. You actually would have to move everything off a shelf to get anything in the back. Finally, since it was so large we couldn’t park in the garage. I’ve spent so many days envying my neighbors as they pulled their car into their garage. Especially, since I have 3 young kids and the idea of getting them in and out of the car in the garage sounded amazing.
The project seemed so simple but a big thing holding me back was how was I going to get rid of all the lumber? A trash container would be too small, and a full-sized dumpster would be way too big. That’s when I learned about Waste Management’s Bagster® bag! If you haven’t seen them at your local home improvement store, the Bagster® bag is a convenient, on-demand waste removal solution. You simply buy it when you need it, fill it up as your project goes, then schedule and pay for collection when you’re done. A few days later it’s gone and hopefully, your project is complete!
So, once I got the Bagster® bag I was motivated to tackle my garage. Make sure to fully read the instructions on where you can place your bag, along with what items can and can’t go in it.
To start, I painfully took down the wood unit. I say it was painful because I couldn’t have a fun demo day! Unfortunately, it was attached to our support beam and had electrical attached to it, so I disassembled it by removing every screw and bolt. In the end, I was so relieved it was gone and sitting in the Bagster® bag.
Next, I gave the wall and door a fresh coat of paint. Then I assembled and added a metal shelf, for the appropriate amount of storage needed!
Finally, I had a functional garage again, one where I could finally park!
The Bagster® bag really is the easiest way to clean & purge your garage. The Bagster® bag holds up to 3,300 pounds, so it’s also great for most medium size home projects like kitchen renovations, bathroom remodels, outdoor projects, moving, and much more. I was amazed by how much we were able to add to the bag.
