I love to design new spaces, and one of my favorite things to do is create a mood or design board. Mood boards are a great starting point, and it’s honestly the first thing I do when designing and planning a space. I’ll spend hours and hours (probably more time than most!), but it’s such a fun process for me. It allows me to fully plan and map out my idea, and that includes pulling inspiration, flooring samples, swatches, fabrics, textiles, paint colors, hardware, and much more.
So when Carpet One Floor & Home wanted to send me a box of their “Twenty of 2020” flooring samples, I couldn’t wait to create a new mood board! Here’s my Subtle Blue Dream Room Mood Board.
First things first, from the “Twenty of 2020” flooring samples I pulled all my favorites out. That included laminate & vinyl flooring options in natural, grey, and light grey tones. Patterned carpets, and a dark grey tile.
For the laminate & vinyl flooring options I selected the Invincible H2O West Barclay in Delightful, Invincible H2O Charleston Place Herringbone in Pure Beauty, Invincible H2O Highland Springs in Cape Elizabeth, and the Mirror Lake Laminate Portside Village in Knights Armor. With all options you’ll have the comfort of them being waterproof safe which make them perfect options for life with kids and pets.
For carpet flooring I love using colors and textures that don’t show stains. So the Lees Studio Pier 5 in Canoe, Resista 3.0 Five Points in Duchess, and Passages by Tigressá Bright Future in Marina are perfect for just that. Finally, if tile is needed I selected the Bel Terra Fabric Art Modern Textile in Medium Gray.
Next, I planned my color pallet. I’m big on soft subtle blues, teals, and turquoise. I always say my style ends up being coastal meets modern farmhouse!
I then mixed in accent details like a rug, throw, and pillow from HomeGoods. Plus, book ends, black wall hooks, and a cement vase from Hobby Lobby.

What do you think? Do the subtle blue tones mixed with the flooring make you think coastal farmhouse? Check out more of Carpet One’s Twenty of 2020 collection on their website. You can also check out all my past Mood & Design boards here.
