Having a pet age into their senior years is hard. So many things change, from their everyday energy, to their diet, and even with their incontinence; but finding ways to help them (and you!) adjust is so important. That’s why I’m sharing Simple Ways to Make Life With a Senior Pup Better!
From the moment my husband and I first met our dog Bodie we fell in love. We rescued him from a shelter when he still was a puppy. At the time they estimated he was about a year old when we adopted him, so that makes him around 14 years old! He’s still cute as ever, but with his old age we have had to adjust things to make life better for both him and us and that includes introducing Hartz® Male Wraps into our lives! Here are some tips to Make Life With a Senior Pup Better.
Adjust Living Spaces
Create a comfortable sleeping area. Bodie used to sleep in our bed, in fact, he loved sleeping under the covers no matter how hot it was! But once we had our first child, sleeping arrangements changed. He still got to be in our room, but no longer in our bed. These days he sleeps downstairs as walking up and down stairs every day is too hard on him.
Incontinence
As dogs age, they can become incontinent. In the last year or so Bodie has had a really hard time controlling his bladder. At first, it was frustrating because our first thought was that he was being lazy, but we quickly realized he couldn’t control it. So we found something to help, Hartz® Male Wraps .
The Hartz® Male Wraps provide a better solution for dogs who suffer from incontinence. Incontinence can stem from a number of things like urinating from excitement, excessive marking, surgery recovery purposes, or like Bodie, an uncontrollable bladder. Plus, Hartz® Male Wraps include two stylish and fun prints. How cute are these camo and denim prints!
Exercise
Change exercise to suit their needs. Since Bodie is a small dog we don’t have to worry about him being overweight, but we still need to make sure he gets his exercise. These days we let him enjoy our backyard and also take him on short walks. I’ve come to learn when enough is enough for his walks, so they last about 10 minutes.
Diet
Adjust diet to find what’s right for them. I remember when Bodie was a puppy and would eat any type of dog food. As he has aged, things have changed. We have tried so many different options along with toppers, but finding the right food makes all the difference. Now he’s on a senior dry food that he absolutely loves, and I love seeing him scarf his entire bowl again!
Most importantly, Be Patient
I know it’s hard to see a pet age, but making sure they continue to be happy and loved is everything. Bodie has brought us so much joy over the years and now it’s our turn to really make sure he is comfortable and well taken care of. Plus, whether you’re adopting a puppy or senior dog, Hartz® Dog Diapers and Male Wraps are a must-have tool when bringing a new pet into the home.
I hope you find these tips helpful with your senior pup, and if your dog is struggling with incontinence, then make sure to try Hartz® Dog Diapers and Male Wraps. Both are available now on Amazon, Chewy.com, and Walmart.com.
Enjoy!
