My entryway and foyer have been a work in progress for some time. I was so excited to replace my front door, seen here, and before that I had installed new travertine floors. I also recently gave my entry a makeover, seen here, which I was so excited about completing. It was a project I have been wanting to complete for some time. Finally, my stairs got a much needed a makeover!
I originally tore out the carpet that came with the house. It was very much needed, but it was a step we did a little premature!
Here are the before pictures of the old carpet.
Yes, it was dirty, and yes the color wasn’t my taste but at least it was finished. Since we tore the carpet up when we did all our demo, we struggled to finish the stairs for a couple years later. So this is how we lived for a couple years. No fun at all!
The reason why it took so long was because I couldn’t decide what to do. I really wanted to have wood stairs, but these bottom steps would have been a challenge for me to DIY. Also, at the top of the stairs there was a carpet landing surrounded by the wood floors. So, I really struggled with how I would transition this odd landing since I didn’t have anymore leftover wood to fill it in.
It finally got to the point we couldn’t take it anymore so we decided to just install carpet. We figured when we decide to replace the upstairs floor we could then replace the carpet with wood.
So, here’s the much better after!
We went with a salt & pepper style in a greige color. It perfectly matches all my decor and I couldn’t be happier!
