Every year after the holidays are over I find myself trying to put away more things than I started with. Whether that’s holiday decorations, new blankets, or clothing, the storage space in my home is getting smaller and smaller. This year I’m trying to save as much space as I can in my linen closet.
My linen closet is upstairs in our hallway and it’s the smallest closet ever! You can see we jam pack this thing! I should also mention we have a load of laundry ready to be added to this closet.
So, I went to Lowes and wandered their closet isle to find any sort of storage ideas. I then stumbled upon the Ziploc® Space Bag® products. They were pretty hidden since they displayed them on their side.
They had several options in different sizes, but I picked up 2 boxes; one box was the Ziploc® Space Bag® Large Flat and another box was Ziploc® Space Bag® 3 Flat Combo Pack. Both products have 3 times the storage.
When I got home I focused on 1 shelf. I filled it to the max and wanted to see if I could fit the entire shelf of linens in 1 Ziploc® Space Bag®.
First, I opened up one of the boxes and took out 1 large Ziploc® Space Bag®.
Next, I stuffed all the linens in the Ziploc® Space Bag® as nicely as possible.
Make sure you don’t fill past the “do not fill” line to avoid any issues when storing your items. Also, the more neatly you can fold and stack items in the Ziploc® Space Bags®, the better the compressed product will look.
Next, seal the bag.
Now, get your vacuum out and place over the opening. Turn it on and it should suck out the air to compress the Ziploc® Space Bag®.
As you start compressing the Ziploc® Space Bags® you can mold the bag to smooth out any bumps and create a flatter compressed product.
I was able to get an entire shelf of linens in 1 Ziploc® Space Bag®. Compared to uncompressed storage volume, these bags save so much space!
My next challenge was my extra comforters. It’s amazing how much space they can take up no matter how nicely you fold them.
Again, I was able to fit it into a large Ziploc® Space Bag® which is a huge bonus for me!
Now I just need to finish the rest of my linen closet.
