Home updates don’t have to be hard, especially when using the right product. I recently got around to giving my kitchen table and bench a much needed update and makeover. The bench was a later addition to my set so it never fully matched, while the table legs had seen better days! So, I gave them a little love using KILZ® Primer and KILZ Complete Coat® Paint.
Years ago I made over my kitchen table, but after several years later and 3 kids, my table has seen better days! Over time, the table legs have had a lot of wear and tear; from chairs hitting them, to crayons and markers, lets just say the previous paint I used didn’t hold up. So, to give my table a refresh I started with the right product’s, KILZ.
I started by cleaning the entire base. Then I primed everything with KILZ 2® All-Purpose Primer.
The KILZ 2 All-Purpose Primer is a primer that blocks medium stains including minor water stains, rust, grease, ink, pencil and felt marker. With it’s enhanced ability to hide stains, it’s ideal for changing colors while also helping to lessen the number of coats of paint required.
After the table got a coat of the primer I let it dry. About an hour or 2 later I started painting the table. I still love the look of a white base but I changed my paint quality and sheen, and went with a Semi-Gloss of the KILZ Complete Coat Paint.
I gave my table 2 coats and allowed it to dry overnight.
Meanwhile, I also wanted to give my bench a little makeover. As I mentioned, this was a later addition, so it’s not the same brand of furniture. So my goal was to update it to make it seem like it always was part of the table set.
To do that I took the bench apart and primed the base/legs with the KILZ 2 All-Purpose Primer. Then I gave it a couple of coats of KILZ Chalk Style Paint in Blue Juniper.
This color almost perfectly matched my existing chairs!
Last but not least, I gave everything some last minute touch ups and then put everything back.
I’m so happy I gave both my table and bench a refresh. This time I know I’ll have long-lasting results that I can be proud of for years to come! Here’s more of the after.
