Lately I’ve been trying to get organized throughout my entire house. For some reason back to school is like a second spring cleaning for me; I just want to organize, organize, organize! My garage has been at the top of the list for my husband since I tend to just toss all my tools and supplies in it. I know it drives him crazy so I’m giving him a belated birthday gift by organizing part of it.
Here’s a little before picture, or my tossing ground!
I first cleared everything out and painted the wall with white primer. I wanted a fresh slate to get organized. Then off to The Home Depot I went to search for ways to organize this space. I ended up finding the Rubbermaid® FastTrack® Garage Organization System in the back of the storage section.
I thought this would be perfect for my area since its a narrow space along the wall. The Rubbermaid® FastTrack® Garage Organization System has so many customization options and features to choose from.
I ended up grabbing a bunch of items including two Rubbermaid® FastTrack® 48″ Wall Panel’s, and a Rubbermaid® FastTrack® 48″ Rail.
Once I was home I didn’t waste anytime. I laid out the design on the floor first. Then I started hanging the 48″ Wall Panel’s. To hang the wall panels it’s really easy.
Step 1: Open the package and you’ll find step by step instructions on in interior of the package. You’ll also need to have purchased the Rubbermaid® FastTrack® Wall Hardware Pack; 1 pack is needed to mount a 48″ rail and if you purchased a 84″ rail then 2 packs are needed.
Step 2: Hold the panel on the wall and use a 1/8″ drill bit to pre-drill holes. You’ll drill right through the panel and make sure you drill into the studs. You might need someone to help hold the panel while you drill, but the system works with 16″ or 24″ stud spacing.
Step 3: Making sure the panel is level, screw the panel into the studs of the wall. Installation only takes minutes and is quick and easy.
As you can see I installed 2 panels side by side. You can also install them on top of each other or make an entire wall of them.
Next I installed the 48″ Rail, you’ll also need the Rubbermaid® FastTrack® Rail Hardware Pack. I decided to place the rail above the wall panel. It’s also really easy to install. Similar to the wall panels, just pre-drill holes into the studs and then screw the rail down. The instructions also mention to screw to 4 studs, which I did. After the rail is secured you just snap the cover over it and done.
Now that everything is installed securely it’s time to add the shelves, brackets, and hooks. Then my favorite part, organize!
I’m amazed how much this system holds, it actually can store 10x more by using the space between studs. I need to go pick up more hooks because I have so much more room to add to.
I think my favorite part is the Rubbermaid® FastTrack® Small Shelf to store my drill and charger. It’s right above the outlet so it’s a perfect place for them.
So are you ready to start this back to school season off right and get organized? Make sure you stop by The Home Depot to pick up all the Rubbermaid FastTrack items. You can also follow Rubbermaid on Pinterest for tons of storage and organizing ideas.
Enjoy!
