Both my front & back yard have been a work in progress. It all started about 1 year ago, but I’m finally getting around to sharing my progress. So, here’s what’s been happening with my front yard!
The biggest reason for our front yard renovation was because we needed to replace the fence. It was on it’s last leg and I’m honestly surprised it lasted. From the day we moved in it looked like 1 major wind storm and it would be gone, but 4 years later is still held up.
The pics above are from the day we bought our home. The pics below are 4 years later, when we were about to start construction.
As you can see we let the grass slowly die before construction. Our plan was to add a new block wall with a new gate, a new pony wall separating our yard from our neighbors, and of course new landscaping.
Within a couples days we had the wood fence ripped out and the new block wall started. This part was much bigger of a project than I would have liked to take on, so we left it to the professionals!
Before we knew it the entire wall was built and the stucco was added. Living in southern California, stucco is everywhere! Plus, due to our strict association, we are limited to few options.
After the stucco was dried and cured, we had them add a brick cap to finish the wall. Again, probably not my first choice but the red brick fits with the rest of the neighborhood aesthetic.
Stay tuned for more progress including the after pics! It looks 100x better!
Enjoy!
