First Impressions, Creating a Simple Entryway!

Ever since I had my builder grade door replaced with a new Therma-Tru Benchmark door, available exclusively at Lowe’s, I planned on also updating my small entryway. I always dreamed of having a grand entry where I could have a console table or a bench to sit on. Unfortunately, my entryway is pretty small, so it’s not possible. But making it a mini version of my dream is what I planned to do!

From the first day we bought our home I was eager to update our entry and the front door. I knew that was everyone’s first impression upon entering our home, so I always wanted it to suit my style along with the rest of my home’s style.

Once we had our door replaced with a Therma-Tru Benchmark door, the space was starting to take shape.

We had the Shaker 6-Lite Craftsman with Clear Low-E Flush-Glazed Glass installed which is an Energy Efficient fiberglass door. Since I live in southern California I don’t have the most extreme weather, but the Therma-Tru Benchmark door won’t warp or split, and it will resist shrinking and swelling with temperature changes.

I previously decorated a little bit, but nothing close to where I wanted the space to look like. So, to transform my entryway I added a board and batten wall with hooks to hang bags, sweaters, and backpacks. Then I also framed out the entire door and side window and finished it off with a large header

To really make the Therma-Tru Benchmark door stand out, I painted the interior a charcoal grey. The transformation was pretty simple, but the end results are so dramatic. I already loved my Therma-Tru Benchmark door, but now I love it 100 times more!

It’s not the biggest space, but creating an actual entryway has transformed the entire room.

My entryway has become a place to let me bring out my style while also serving a purpose. I never knew how badly I needed hooks to store the items that typically would get tossed on our stairs. Plus, when guests enter they get a glimpse of my style and hopefully they’ll have a great first impression
