When it comes to organizing, I find it’s always best to clear everything out and start from scratch. I recently gave a front entry coat closet a much-needed makeover. Seeing all the clutter and disorganization definitely gets to me. So I pulled everything out and reworked the closet with the Rubbermaid® FastTrack® Closet™ Organization System from Lowe’s.
Storage is everything in my home, so a messy and nonfunctional closet doesn’t work. To make matters worse, the coat closet shape was very awkward! You can see below what I’m talking about!
To get started, I cleared everything out. I then measured and starting planning my new layout using the Rubbermaid FastTrack® Closet Organization System. I knew I needed shelf storage, along with a small area for hanging coats, and then extra room for shoes that end up by the front door. With the FastTrack Closet system, it can be used as the organization solution for multiple rooms within the home.
Once I purchased everything from Lowe’s, I started right away with my new closet. The first step was to install the hang rails into the studs. After the rails are installed, you can get started with the upright brackets.

After both the rails and brackets are installed, it’s time for the fun part: adding the shelving and accessories! I love this part since I can play around with how I want to set up the space. In the end, I added 2 shelves on the left with 2 shoes racks below.
On the right side, I added a shelf for storage and hanging clothes. I left the rest of the wall empty so I had extra room for vacuums, brooms, etc…
What’s so great about the Rubbermaid FastTrack® Closet Organization System is that you can continue to customize your closet as you need it. It’s the one closet system that now allows kits, accessories, open stock and new wood accessories to all work together interchangeably.
After I landed on my final layout, I started adding back my stuff.
To maximize the full closet system, I added additional storage baskets along with shelf dividers which are great to organize blankets. I always find getting organized is much easier when you have matching bins, baskets, and boxes.
Here’s the before versus the after!
This closet went from a waste of space to an extremely functional closet. Having a place for everything is a must when trying to stay organized but until your closet has the proper storage system, that can’t happen.
So, if you’re looking for the fastest way to organize your home and to start maximizing your closet space, head on over to Lowe’s and start planning your Rubbermaid FastTrack® Closet Organization System.
