I made this last spring and wanted something for my mantle. I loved the previous crates I made, here and here, so I wanted something along that line. Enter… Wheat Grass Crate.
So here is part 1, the making of the crate. I bought strip wood from Lowe’s and made my cuts as follows:
1. End Sides, (2) 2.5″ x 4″, only need 2 not sure why I have 4 in the pic.
2. Front, Back, & Bottom, (5) 2.5″ x 12″.
I started building by attaching the 2 of the side pieces to the bottom with nails. Then I added one of the small end side pieces as shown below, followed by the other side.Next, I added the other front/back side pieces with no space.I did this for both sides and it was complete. I gave it a really good sanding to make the edges smooth. For the finishing I used my favorite; Minwax Stain in Dark Walnut.Stay tuned for Part 2.
Enjoy!
