It’s summer and most our days are spent in our backyard by the pool. I love hanging out by the pool, especially as my kids become more independent in the pool. But as they become more independent they also bring with them tons of stuff like extra towels, toys, and floats. So to fight the endless battle of stuff I made a Pool Towel Rack and Storage Area.
My Pool Towel Rack and Storage Area was such a simple DIY project, perfect for beginners. Here’s what you’ll need to make it:
-
- Super Finish Max
- Medium Spray Shelter
- Turn Table
- Paint
- 3 Wood Crates
- Caster Wheels
- Wood for the base
- Hooks
To get started you’ll need to assemble a small base. I used a 6ft 2×2″ and cut it to size to fit the bottom of the crate like below.
Next, glue and fix the base to 1 of the crates, either with screws or nail gun. Then you can start painting the crates.
To do that, I setup my HomeRight Medium Spray Shelter, my Turn Table, and my Super Finish Max Extra HVLP Paint Sprayer.
I share more on how to use HomeRight’s tools over on their DIY blog here.
Once everything is painted it’s time to assemble. To do that I used wood glue and screwed the crates together. Then I screwed on the caster wheels, and finally added hooks to each side.
The best part of the Pool Towel Rack and Storage Area I built is that it rolls! That’s means I can easily move it around our yard, and when the winter months hit I can move it to the garage.
Now for the after!

Enjoy!
