I’m making some easy DIY mini pumpkin planters out of faux pumpkins. I don’t know how I have accumulated so many fake pumpkins over the years but my stock pile is getting quite large. So I decided to give some of them a quick update and make them suit my everyday home decor.
To make these Mini pumpkin Planters you’ll need the following:
- Plastic or foam pumpkins
- Succulents or your plant of choice
- Sharp knife & spoon
- Paint
First, take your pumpkin and cut a circle, some will be hollow while others will have a foam core. If they have a foam core you’ll then need to take a spoon and dig out the center.
You can see the difference in pumpkins here. The hollow pumpkin was much easier to work with.
After the pumpkins are ready get your paint supplies out.
Start painting all the pumpkins. I went with light grey and teal to match the rest of my home decor.
I gave them all about 2 coats of paint. I also painted the inside rim of the pumpkin since you might see this when the plants are potted.
Finally, add soil or in my case the soil from the plant was sufficient since these pumpkins were so small. Then add your succulents or plants and your done!
I love how they turned out. They give just the right amount of Fall ambiance while blending in with everything else in my home. Now to keep the little ones fingers away!
