Lately I’ve been loving to try and find different planters & pots for my air plants. Whether their hanging or just interesting pots, I can’t seem to have enough! And once I found out how easy it is to make these Geo pots, I had to give it a try. Here’s my tutorial on how to make Geometric Clay Pots.
Supplies:
-Air dry clay, I used Crayola brand.
-Sharp knife
-Wax paper
-Air plants
First step is to make a ball out of the clay, keep in mind you’ll want to make it as large as you want the pot.
Then use your thumb to press the center down, keep working the clay till it looks like my picture. You’ll want the clay to remain thick since you’ll be cutting a bunch off.
Now let it air dry for a couple of days. You want it to stiffen up but not completely dry. I made them at night and let them air dry for 2 days.
Now the fun part! Get your knife out (I just used a sharp kitchen knife) and start cutting. There’s no rhyme or reason to it, just make small flat cuts at different angles.
Make sure to keep 1 portion extra flat so it has a side to sit on. Then you’ll want to cut off the edge/lip of the pot to make it flat as well.
Now, just let it air dry for another day or 2, it will turn white when its completely dry.
That’s it! I now have another perfect home for my air plants!
Here’s a bunch of pics, aren’t they soo cute!
Enjoy!
