I bought a storage/jewelry box awhile back with the intention of giving it a makeover for my daughter. I found this box at target in the clearance aisle. Here is the before.
It’s a simple box with lid, but the colors they offered were too bright. I decided to make it over with colors matching my daughters nursery; coral & grey.
First step was to tape off the section where I wanted to add a subtle contrast.
Then I got my paint out and mixed a Lowes Valspar sample with some white paint to lighten it up.
On to painting… I started with the base.
Then I painted the top. I probably added 2 full coats with 1 extra round of touch ups.
Next the fun part, stenciling; at least I thought this before I did it! I think I found this stencil at Hobby Lobby. I taped it down where I wanted the pattern.
Here’s the after, as you can see it got a little messy in some areas.
I touched this up by hand. Here’s it cleaned up, so much better!
After I finished the box, I moved on to prepping the contrast area. As you can see its still lime, this was previously taped off earlier.
Well that’s it! Hopefully she’ll keep for many years to come.
