Every year we try to make it to Disney’s Halloween Party. It’s become a family tradition that I think I love most! With Covid shutting down much of 2020 we were so excited to be back visiting again, and this time Mickey’s Halloween Party at Disneyland has now become Oogie Boogie Bash at Disney California Adventure Park. Here’s why you should go too!
Why visit Oogie Boogie Bash at Disney California Adventure Park? I know at first glance why would you bother paying $100+ a ticket for only a couple hours when you could pay the same amount for a full day? I break down everything to know below!

Cost vs Value
First thing to consider is the cost. With a family of 5 I know how expensive a day at Disney can be. Since I only live about 30 minutes away, we have always found the most value with passes. But, since Covid hit and passes stopped, we found going to the Oogie Boogie Bash to be a great value if you plan to only visit for 1 day.
Why? Well, for starters the price is almost the same as going for a full day yet the crowds are much smaller at the party’s. Even though the party is only 5 hours (6:00 PM to 11:00 PM) you can go on almost every ride if you wanted to. Rides that would be minimum an hour wait were walk on, like Radiator Springs Racers.
Tip: Don’t forget you get to enter the park 3 hours before the party starts, so you actually get 8 hours in Disney California Adventure Park.
Crowds
As I just mentioned, the crowds are much less than a typical day at Disneyland. Even though every Disney Halloween Oogie Boogie Bash gets sold out, the crowds are much smaller than a normal day. We walked on almost every ride, with maybe a 15 minute wait at most.
Tip: it’s best to go on the big rides later in the night or during the parades, we waited 10 minutes at the end of the night to go on the new WEB SLINGERS: A Spider-Man Adventure ride.
Frightfully Fun Parade
We always try to watch the parade since it’s completly different that what you would see during the day at the park, however my kids are becoming less and less intrested. But, if you’ve never been to the Disney Halloween Oogie Boogie Bash you should defineitly try to catch it.
Tip: Skip the first showing since most people watch this parade. It’s best to take advantage of this time to go on rides, get food, or visit treat trails. The 2nd show is exactly the same!
Treat Trails
My kids favorite thing to do is the Treat trail! I definitely felt like there were less trails at the Oogie Boogie Bash vs Mickey’s Halloween Party at Disneyland but these trails seemed to be longer and way more exciting. Almost every trail had a villain talking to guests (from a far of course). This made waiting in the lines much more entertaining. And, yes this is the only place you really end up waiting in line, but it does go fast. By the end of the night, we had way too much candy and snacks.
Decor
I will say I miss the Main street pumpkin, we use to get a yearly photo in front of the pumpkin but since the party has moved over to California Adventure this is the one thing you lose. Otherwise, the decor is still amazing, especially at night with the lights.
Booking
Finally, if you plan to book Oogie Boogie Bash at Disney California Adventure Park make sure you do it early, and by that I mean in August. Every year it gets sold out earlier and earlier, especially for the more inexpensive nights. We end up going late September or early October and on a Tuesday or Thursday for the most inexpensive times. These are the days that typically get sold out ASAP, so plan accordingly!
