When it comes to having a baby it’s amazing how much stuff you need. Some items are essential while others you can get by without. I’ve come to learn having a changing table and station is one of those essential items.
With my first daughter we didn’t have a changing table. We just plopped down the changing pad wherever and changed her right there. But this time around I knew I wanted a station solely dedicated to changing. If you follow me then you know I completed my “Rustic Glam” nursery for the One Room Challenge (you can see that here). For part of the makeover I ended up building a rustic changing table from scratch. It’s been a key piece of furniture in my new nursery since it holds and stores so much. I’ve recently updated a few things that has helped me create the Perfect Baby Changing Station.
For starters I purchased a new Playtex® Diaper Genie® Complete from Target.
I can’t believe I went without this with my first daughter. What was I thinking! The convenience of the Diaper Genie is amazing, especially since our nursery is on the 2nd floor. I no longer need to go outside to throw diapers away. The Diaper Genie also has a built-in carbon filter that helps absorb and keep in those nasty diaper odors.
You can find the Diaper Genie in the diaper aisle of Target along with the refill packs.
Next, I reworked my storage to be more user friendly. Here are some tips to organize a Changing Table Station:
Step 1: Find (or build) a table that has ample storage.
Step 2: Use baskets or bins to hold extra diapers, wipes, and extra supplies.
Step 3: Purchase a changing pad and cover. I recommend having extra covers as backup. You can store them easily in the baskets below.
Step 4: Have a diaper caddy, or in my case I used a 3-tier stand. You’ll want to have easy access to diapers, wipes, lotions, and rash creams.
Step 5: Purchase a Playtex® Diaper Genie® Complete. This is crucial for a changing station. Having a Diaper Genie allows you to throw away the diapers right there without having to go downstairs or outside to throw it in the trash. The Diaper Genie Complete also has a foot pedal which allows you to be able to toss in with one-hand. It also holds up to 270 dirty diapers so you don’t have to constantly be changing the bag.
To make things easier I made a checklist printable for everything you need when creating a Baby Changing Station. You can easily pickup all items at Target since it’s a one-stop shop for all your baby needs.
Whether your setting up a changing station or shopping for a new mom, I definitely recommend adding the Playtex Diaper Genie Complete to your registry. Since Target is the #1 place for baby registries, you can find everything else you need to check off that list. Don’t forget to use your Target Cartwheel offer, which runs from 8/21 to 9/3.
Have you created a changing station before? What items do you find essential? Leave me a comment below!
Enjoy!

I love that you used a shelf instead of a changing table. This can then be used long after the diaper need.

How lovely is that changing station! I think it keeps everything organized and although it’s never easy to have a baby around, at least when it’s time to change nappies, you have the perfect place for it. No need to risk having your bed tainted too. Lol.

Howdy just wanted to give you a brief heads up and let you know a
few of the pictures aren’t loading properly. I’m not sure why but I
think its a linking issue. I’ve tried it in two different internet browsers and both show the
same outcome.

Hi there,
Thanks for the great ideas, as I’m a first-time mom, I have no idea what to expect and honestly where to start with getting things ready, so, I have been roaming the internet looking for suggestions and ideas on how to and where to start with preparing for our baby.
This is great, if anyone can suggest other sites for me to check out, it would be greatly appreciated
