Moving right along on this room, a lot of prep work and paint needs to be done. I started off patching the giant holes in the wall. As I previously mentioned, the last owners damaged the wall pretty badly. When they removed a large built-in desk & Murphy bed they didn’t care to remove it properly. So I had my work cut out for me!
Here’s the before again:
The hole on the farthest left was the biggest. I started off by applying a couple layers of wall spackle. I laid it on pretty thick since I knew I would have to sand and re-texture this entire section.
I let that dry for a couple days and applied a little more where it was needed.
Then once it was all covered and dry I sanded it down then re-textured. I used a spray can of re-texture you can find at any hardware store. Here’s the after.
While the texture dried I started painting the room. I chose Valspar Notre Dame. This is the same color as my office and I love it!
Here’s the start of the paint. I also had a helper!
Once I got a base coat on the walls I decided to move on to the base moulding. The entire room needed it.
Then I went back and gave the entire room another coat of paint along with cut all my edges in. That’s my favorite part!
Here’s the room all finished and painted.
So to update my list, here’s what I have left:
Patch and re-texture walls.Add baseboard moulding.Paint walls & trim.- Fix closet; the closet rod recently fell down.
- Install curtains.
- Get new bed.
- Redo old nightstand.
- Redo old IKEA Malm dresser.
- Finally decorate & style!
Till next time, enjoy!
