Springtime means it’s time for a easy Backyard Update! My backyard has gone through some major renovations since buying our home. We’re still slowly making updates, and my most recent task was to FINALLY paint our back Wrought Iron fence. Here’s how you can paint your Wrought Iron Fence too using the Wagner Flexio 3000 Sprayer!
How to Paint a Wrought Iron Fence
Living in Southern California, we know we are incredibly fortunate to have a large backyard. But with a large yard means a lot of maintenance, and that includes the fence. If my husband and I had it our way, we would tear down the Wrought Iron fence and install a block stucco wall. But, unfortunately this fence is regulated by our H.O.A. so it has to remain a Wrought Iron fence with wood posts. So, the next best thing is to give it an update.
Here’s how to paint your Wrought Iron Fence.
Materials Needed:
- Wagner Flexio 3000 Sprayer
- Wagner Spray Cup Liner
- Outdoor Exterior Paint
- Pressure Washer or Hose
- Mulch
- Solar Post Caps
Step 1: Yard Prep
Start by prepping your fence and yard. Use either a pressure washer or garden hose to thoroughly clean the fence. You might also need to do some maintenance on the fence, like tighten bolts, etc…
Next, prep your yard by trimming back any plants and removing weeds. A couple months ago we completely tore out almost all the plants in this planter surrounding our fence & pool. It was way overgrown and we wanted to re-landscape it with more simple and easy to maintain plants.
Step 2: Paint Prep
After the fence is completely dry you’re ready to prep your Wagner Flexio 3000 Sprayer. I highly suggest and recommend using a Wagner Spray Cup Liner. It makes cleanup so much quicker.
Pour your paint into the larger spray cup and attach back to the sprayer. I used a Semi-Gloss Outdoor paint in Black which you can find here.
Step 3: Paint
Start painting your wrought iron fence by moving slowly, up and down each post, followed by both sides of the fence.
Step 4: Mulch & Lights
Finally, I added some black mulch to my planter. We still plan on re-landscaping the planter, but for now adding a layer of mulch makes the space look that much more finished.
We also installed new Solar Post Caps. This was a really inexpensive update that makes the fence look updated and new.
