Hello! I’m Katy and welcome to A Shade of Teal!
I created this blog to showcase my love of all things design. I decided with the name “A Shade of Teal” because ever since I was little, teal has been a favorite color of mine. You’ll see from my posts that teal is always a factor.
I’m a clothing designer for a company based in CA. I studied Fashion Merchandising & Design and have been designing for various clothing companies for several years now. Clothing is not my only passion, I love making things; anything! I find making something yourself so much more rewarding than buying it. Renovating furniture has become a new interest for me, which I find to be so much fun.
As for my skills, I would have to say I’m mostly self taught, but whenever I have a question I have my father who is a “Master of all trades” kinda guy. He is a general contractor and has specialized in custom cabinetry to home building. I love knowing I always havehim when I’m in need.
I’m married to my best friend Jonny and we have 2 very entertaining dogs;
Bodie and Dakota.
We also have a new addition, our baby girl Kenzie.
I designed almost everything for our wedding; including our invitations, which you’ll see in my posts. We have just sold our 1st home and bought our 2nd which is a constant project, but I love it!
I’ve started this blog in January 2012; this has been a long time goal for me so I’m soo excited to finally get it up and running! Check back in to see all my projects for the home, my wedding, and your everyday DIY projects.
